SHOWA 15.6 Kokubunji Type 14 Pistol
hi All! I'm selling my Dad's gun collection for Mom; he got this (along with a 1937 Luger) from a cousin's husband, who got it from his mom's attic; what would you ask for this? a google search was low=$950, high=$1,400... it does have a groove from the safety, has the 'glove' trigger housing...

I would find a Jap rifle collector site and ask them. There are a few out there and you may get your best offer from them. If that don't work, then I would put it on Gunbroker with a substantial reserve (say... 1200 or so).- it appears to be in great shape so I would think it should go in the high end of the range.
Got a pic of the Luger? |

Be careful cleaning it up. Thats the number one way that people ruin the value of a collectible firearm.
If you dont know what you are doing, you might end up costing yourself a lot of money. |
Re: SHOWA 15.6 Kokubunji Type 14 Pistol
STOP !!! Don't Touch That Luger !!!!! The original straw color is very delicate and like case hardening colors, very desirable. Don't try to clean it or you will wipe away $$$ as you do. (kinda like collector coins).
It too looks to be in excellent shape-wish I could afford to make you an offer. Matching magazines are scarce but as long as you have an original Nazi with it your good. I bought an aftermarket for my 1913 just so I wouldn't damage or wear my original. What kind of markings are on the top (toggle and barrel) It could be a script of DWM or S42 or some of the other manufacturers. Nice fiind. |

If it has the lotus marking, it will bring top dollar.

Do you mean Chrysanthemum? Did the pistols have them, or only the Arisakas?

It is the imperial seal. It was on everything owned by the Japanese govt. even their money. Their surrender was conditional that nothing bearing the seal would leave the country unless the seal was first removed. Many American soldiers snuck theirs home with the seal intact. These are very rare finds. |

The imperial seal is a chrysanthemum blossom, just like on a Japanese passport. No lotuses on any Japanese stuff that I've ever seen.

You are probably right, but me and my friends have always called them lotuses. I guess the Lotus is Chinese isnt it. |
